Bank Millennium sponsors the 28th Bydgoszcz Opera Festival

The 28th Bydgoszcz Opera Festival is taking place from Saturday, October 8. This is the largest event of this type in Poland and a review of the most interesting achievements of renowned musical theatres – domestic and foreign. The festival will last until October 22. Bank Millennium is one of the sponsors of this event.

The Bydgoszcz Opera Festival has been held since 1994 on the stage of the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz and is one of the most important events on the cultural map of Poland

- Bank Millennium is a sponsor of culture 360°, promoting art in its many forms - film, music, painting, sculpture, theatre, photography, literature and performance, national as well as local events. We are pleased to be a sponsor of the Bydgoszcz Opera Festival for several years, which perfectly popularises and promotes Polish opera and presents the achievements of renowned foreign theatres – says Michał Kąkolewski, Regional Director at Bank Millennium.

During this year's edition, in addition to the titles present on many operatic stages, unique ones will be presented, and next to the classics – new works.

The festival was opened by the Opera Nova premiere - "Faust" by Charles Gounod. The program includes "Giselle" by Adolphe Adam - a symbol of romantic ballet performed by the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (Ukraine), the opera "Don Carlo" by Giuseppe Verdi, a poignant staging of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre from Vilnius in the award-winning masterful direction by Günter Krämer. This year's Polish productions will show Verdi's "Aida", hailed as an artistic event of the Baltic Opera.

There will also be a great performance of the Szczecin Opera at the Castle "The Trial" – a contemporary opera by Philip Glass based on Franz Kafka and a comic opera by Józef M.K. Poniatowski "Don Desiderio" performed by the Silesian Opera in Bytom. The festival will close with Josef B. Foerster's opera "Eva", which will be shown by the State Opera of Banská Bystrica (Slovakia).
